Plot
As all of the passengers take their seats on The Charabanc of Dreams, Brendan, their driver, checks the tickets and notices that there are one or two very interesting characters going on the journey of a lifetime. The only condition for travel is that they must all tell their story before they disembark and ring the bell when they decide they want to get off. The Charabanc of Dreams. The first to tell their story are the Holidaymakers who reminisce about how good life used to be before there were so many distractions - Everyone helped and everyone shared and nobody ever complained! Holiday Waltz. After the Holidaymakers have left, the next travelers to tell their story are a herd of Elephants, who remind us of how difficult it has become for them to find food, clean water and a safe environment in which to live; a reflection of the dangers facing planet Earth today! The Slow March of the Elephants. As the Elephants leave, we hear from a group of Shopaholics who remind us how indulgent society has become, always wanting the latest technology, the next gizmo, and how materialistic humankind has become! The Escalator Song. There aren't many left on the bus now but a little puppy-dog rings the bell from the back and reflects on the bond between humans and their pets and how, just sometimes, it can go horribly wrong. Little Puppy Lost. The bell rings once more and a group of firefighters who have been listening intently to everyone else's stories stand up and tell us how positive they are about life; facing up to your fears and make the most of what you've got. The Song of the Firefighters. Just before Brendan takes the bus back to its garage, he notices a rather small and quiet child hiding on the back seat. The child nervously stands up and reflects about how unsure of what he wants to become in the future; a message that makes it clear that we're all different and that it's okay to find your own path through life. The Last Kid on the Bus. During the final song, the bus returns home and everyone sings a happy song to end their journey. The Charabanc of Dreams.
